Nepal- Scot Ceilidh Tin Hut Fri 13th June

June 13, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Kutumba are a traditional folk ensemble from Nepal and one of Nepal’s top bands. They are visiting Scotland on their “Music of the Himalayas” European Tour.

Their enchanting upbeat music played on traditional Nepalese instruments including drums, flute and sarangi proved extremely popular when they visited in 2012. During their time in the North East they will be collaborating with leading local musicians of traditional Scottish music to create some exciting new music which may be included in the concert program.

The concert is in aid of Himalayan Initiatives, a Huntly based charity which supports community development projects in Nepal including assistance to health posts, schools and income generating projects. The charity has recently funded the building of a new school in the village of Jhareni in SoluKhumbu due to open May 2014.

More information about the charity will be available at the events and Nepalese handicrafts will be available for purchase.

Tickets £8 ( Under 16 £5) are available at Rizzas Huntly, can be reserved via jane@himalayaninitiatives.co.uk and may be available on the door.
